Hope everyone had a great weekend, and is surviving/survived Monday! I have yet another busy week ahead of me, as I’m heading to New York in a couple of days for work. Though it’ll be a quick trip and full of work events, I’ll have some time to visit friends who live in the city.

These lettuce wraps are fresh and delicious, and the perfect weeknight meal. The spicy drizzling sauce has just the right amount of kick and boosts the flavor of the ground turkey. Enjoy!

souped up. [chicken tortilla soup w. homemade tortilla strips]

Happy October! I can’t believe it’s already fall, but I’m definitely not complaining. I’m looking forward to chilly weather, warm clothes and hearty meals…oh, and all things pumpkin. Soup is one of my favorite meals during the fall/winter, so I’m kicking off this month with a classic chicken tortilla soup. This recipe is hearty, delicious and healthy–well, healthy sans the sour cream and tortilla strips. :)

a special day. [chicken saute w. white wine & thyme cream sauce]

Last weekend, I got to see my brother marry his girlfriend of seven years and love of his life, Vanya. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous and a day they will never forget. It was so nice to spend the weekend with family from Ohio that we haven’t seen in years.

This chicken dish was always a favorite of mine growing up, but for some reason, I’d never made it myself. The dish is simple to prepare, and full of flavor. The white wine cream sauce is heavenly…I tell ya, heavenly!

catching up. [shredded chicken tostadas w. roasted tomato-jalapeno salsa]

September 11th, 2013 by | comments

IMG_4275As I expected, last month flew by. I visited my hometown of Columbus, Ohio two different weekends, once for my cousin’s wedding then again for the first Ohio State football game (GO BUCKS!). Life has momentarily slowed down, so I was finally able to get back in the kitchen. These tostadas were delicious and simple to prepare. The freshly fried corn tortillas are a must!

non-stop. [deconstructed kabobs w. andouille, chicken & creole mustard sauce]

IMG_3844

How is it already August?! The next couple months are going to fly by for me, as I’ll be in Ohio two different weekends, then my brother gets married in September. Though it’s been extremely busy, it has been and will be a blast spending time with family and friends. I’ll only be in LA two weekends out of the upcoming seven, so I might be a little slow to post!

On to the recipe–this dish is simple and delicious, with the star being the creole mustard sauce. The meat and vegetables can be served on or off the  kabobs. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to snap a photo until after we ate, so the veggies aren’t pictured. Food blogger fail!

a new favorite. [moist banana bread bars w. peanut butter frosting & Nutella drizzle]

Calling all peanut butter and banana lovers–I think I’ve found your new favorite dessert. These bars are moist and full of flavor, and the Nutella drizzle takes them to the next level. I know I’ll be making these again very soon.

Last weekend, my best friend’s brother (who happens to be my brother’s best friend), got married. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous and one to remember. Congrats Ryan and Stephanie!

flavor explosion. [honey-lime chicken burrito w. tomatillo sauce, Cuban-style black beans & grilled corn in lime dressing]

July 24th, 2013 by | comments

IMG_3943This burrito is the epitome of a fresh, summer meal (unlike my last post). The sweetness of the chicken and corn compliments the slightly spicy tomatillo sauce. Though the recipe was somewhat laborious, it was completely worth it. All of the components were delicious on their own, and even better when combined.

wiped out. [gooey cinnamon squares]

July 8th, 2013 by | comments

IMG_3783If you’re a fan of snickerdoodles, I’m gonna go ahead and say that you’d love these cinnamon squares. They’re basically a snickerdoodle cookie in gooey cake form. What could be better than that?! I brought these to a 4th of July BBQ and not a single bar was left on the tray. I’ll most definitely be making these again soon.
