It’s been a long two weeks. I’m still recovering from a serious gum surgery, but am finally starting to feel human again. My diet for the past two weeks has consisted of frozen yogurt, protein shakes and Ramen…and all I want is a cheeseburger!!

I couldn’t bear to eat another bowl of Maruchan Ramen, so I decided to try eating mac & cheese. Granted, I was only able to eat the noodles and cheese sauce, but the rest of my family enjoyed the pasta with the mushrooms, peas and chicken. Everyone gave the dish two thumbs up!

Over the past few months, I’ve fallen in love with buffalo sauce. Don’t ask what took me so long. I had a ton of quinoa in my pantry and wanted to find a way to combine the grain with my newfound love (buffalo sauce). To my surprise, I found a recipe online that did just that. This quinoa bake was divine–I’m getting giddy just thinking about having it for dinner tonight. :)

Last weekend, I got to see my brother marry his girlfriend of seven years and love of his life, Vanya. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous and a day they will never forget. It was so nice to spend the weekend with family from Ohio that we haven’t seen in years.

This chicken dish was always a favorite of mine growing up, but for some reason, I’d never made it myself. The dish is simple to prepare, and full of flavor. The white wine cream sauce is heavenly…I tell ya, heavenly!

non-stop. [deconstructed kabobs w. andouille, chicken & creole mustard sauce]

How is it already August?! The next couple months are going to fly by for me, as I’ll be in Ohio two different weekends, then my brother gets married in September. Though it’s been extremely busy, it has been and will be a blast spending time with family and friends. I’ll only be in LA two weekends out of the upcoming seven, so I might be a little slow to post!

On to the recipe–this dish is simple and delicious, with the star being the creole mustard sauce. The meat and vegetables can be served on or off the  kabobs. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to snap a photo until after we ate, so the veggies aren’t pictured. Food blogger fail!

playing catch up. [crock-pot shredded chicken in poblano cream sauce]

November 13th, 2012 by | comments

I was in New York this past weekend for work, so needless to say, I’m behind on blogging. Even though the trip was quick, I was able to see a couple of friends and spend a few hours perusing the city. I absolutely love NY and didn’t want to leave, but it was nice to get home and back in the kitchen. But what does one cook when jet lagged and lazy? Well, obviously a crock-pot recipe. Or at least that’s what sounded easiest to me, and that it was!

Food Porn Daily featured my mushroom and ricotta cheese toasts today. Check it out here.

A much needed reunion with my friend, Liza. Check out her blog here!

heating up. [sun-dried tomato fettuccine w. chicken & broccoli]

It’s hot. I mean, really hot. So why did I make pasta? I suppose I’d have to go with laziness; I didn’t want to make a trip to the grocery, so i played the game of ‘use what you have.’ The dish turned out delicious, and not too heavy. My roommate, Megan, and I enjoyed a bowl of the pasta while blasting the air conditioning. It made the dining experience much more enjoyable. :)
