grown-up pizza party. [homemade pizzas w. prosciutto, sun-dried tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, pineapple & mushrooms]

Although there’s not much of a recipe here, I thought this pizza party was well worth a post. Our friend, Jen, is visiting from New York, so instead of spending gobs of money at a fancy LA restaurant, we decided to have a relaxed dinner party, filled with pizza making, red wine and board games.

My friends graciously hosted the dinner at their apartment and had quite the setup–transforming their kitchen table into a flour-covered, pizza-making station.

All of our pies were unique, to say the least. Some were perfectly circular, while others resembled more of an amoeba shape. Everyone stacked their pizza with a heaping amount of toppings, from fresh prosciutto to artichoke hearts to sliced mushrooms.

The dinner party was an absolute blast, and a great way to spend time with Jen.

Recipe:

Trader Joe’s herb & garlic pizza dough

Prosciutto, thinly sliced

Pepperoni

Mushrooms, sliced

Mozzarella cheese

Fresh pineapple, diced

Red pepper, sliced into lengthwise pieces

Black olives, halved

Sun-dried tomatoes, drained

Artichoke hearts, diced

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

On a flour-covered surface, knead pizza dough with hands and pull edges until reach desired thickness, shape and size. Add more flour is dough is too sticky. A rolling-pin is not necessary, but speeds up the process.

Once satisfied with the dough, using a spoon, cover surface with homemade or store-bought pizza sauce in circular motion. Leave about 1-inch around edges of pie void of sauce.

Sprinkle pizza with desired cheese and toppings. Place pizza on a cookie sheet and on middle oven rack. Bake until cheese is melted and crust is golden, about 15 minutes.
